Cedar Falls Community Theatre (CFCT) seeks a collaborative and community-driven Director of Education & Community Engagement to lead and expand our educational programming and strengthen our connection with the broader community.

The role oversees theatre education initiatives for all ages, cultivates partnerships with local organizations, and supports engagement across CFCT productions. The Director works both independently and as part of a small, dedicated team to advance CFCT’s mission through accessible and meaningful arts experiences.

Evening and weekend availability is required based on programming and production schedules. CFCT supports flexible scheduling to balance these commitments and promote sustainable workloads.

The role operates with a high level of independence while collaborating closely with the Executive Director and fellow department leaders (Director of Marketing and Development, Technical Director, and Front of House Manager) to ensure alignment with CFCT’s strategic goals.

Education & Programming

• Design, implement, and evaluate theatre education programs for youth, adults, and older adults
• Develop and oversee youth summer camps, including curriculum and staffing
• Coordinate and lead off-site programming in schools and community settings
• Recruit, train, and supervise teaching artists and seasonal staff
• Support in the recruitment of production crew members as needed

Community Engagement

• Build and sustain partnerships with schools, senior centers, and community organizations
• Serve as a visible ambassador for CFCT within the community
• Support production communication and logistics as needed
• Help ensure a positive and organized volunteer experience

Facility Rentals

• Assist Front of House Manager in managing scheduling and logistics for third-floor rental space
• Ensure clear communication of policies and proper facility use

Administration & Strategy

• Develop and manage program budgets
• Track participation and evaluate program success
• Maintain clear communication with participants, families, and partners
• Contribute to organizational planning and cross-department collaboration which will include some marketing and promotion

• Experience in theatre education, arts programming, and/or community engagement
• Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills
• Experience supervising staff, teaching artists, or volunteers
• Ability to develop and lead programs independently
• Comfort managing budgets and multiple priorities

• Familiarity with social media and marketing

• Salary range: $38,000 - $42,000
