SYNOPSIS: From Tony-winners and creators of such Broadway classics as Ragtime and Once On This Island, this dazzling shoe (based on the animated film) transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920's, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.

Auditioning at Cedar Falls Community Theatre

Auditions take place 8 to 10 weeks ahead of the production dates. We encourage everyone to audition and do not discriminate. Everyone will receive consideration without regard to race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability.

We'll try to take the pressure off to make the process enjoyable. Here are a few tips to help:

Prepare

Research the show and consider where you might fit in the cast. Familiarity should help you find your own voice, perspective or "take" on the role. You are welcome to rent a script ahead of time to help you prepare, just stop by during business hours.

Be Proactive About Your Schedule and Availability

Bring your calendar for the next couple of months. The director will want to know about pre-existing commitments now... not after you are cast.

Be Gracious

Not everyone can be the lead. The director has reasons for the decisions made and we ask that you respect that. You may be offered a role that you weren't planning for or be asked to help the show in other areas.

Be On Time

Please respect the production team and your fellow auditionees by showing up to audition on time. If you might have a conflict that prevents you from coming on time, reach out to the director ahead of time.

Have Fun

Because that's what theatre is all about!
