Funny, frank and featuring the hit songs “Greased Lightnin’,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “You’re The One That I Want,” and “Summer Nights,” GREASE follows the journey of Danny and Sandy, alongside the Burger Palace Boys and the Pink Ladies, as they navigate high school to the unforgettable rock n’ roll soundtrack that defined generations.

SCRIPTS: Scripts are available to check out with a $10 refundable deposit one month prior to auditions. Please call (319) 277-5283 for more info, or stop by the Box Office Mon-Fri 12-4PM.

Acting: Prepare a short monologue of approximately 20-40 seconds stylistically appropriate for the characters in Grease.

Actors do not need to memorize their monologue for auditions.

Directors will only use dialogue excerpts of the script at callbacks.

Contact Director Kyle N. Weber at knweber.director@gmail.com for assistance.

Singing: Prepare 30-45 seconds of a song of your choosing, preferably in the musical theatre genre and/or in the style of the show. Prepare an accompanying track without lead vocals.

Please have your cutting ready on your personal device to connect to a provided speaker. We strongly recommend you download and cut the portion of your song onto your device. Wi-Fi information will not be provided. Please do not plan to play your tracks directly from YouTube as ads will slow everyone down. Singing a cappella will not be accepted as a complete audition. Actors do not need to memorize their music for auditions.

Contact Music Director Lauren Leman at laurenleman7@gmail.com for assistance.

Dancing: Arrive in comfortable clothes that are ready for movement and shoes ready for dancing. Actors will be taught a combination on-site.

Your video audition MAY include a 20-40 second dance sequence stylistically appropriate to the show. Auditioning at Cedar Falls Community Theatre

Auditions take place 8 to 10 weeks ahead of the production dates. We encourage everyone to audition and do not discriminate. Everyone will receive consideration without regard to race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability.

We'll try to take the pressure off to make the process enjoyable. Here are a few tips to help:

Prepare

Research the show and consider where you might fit in the cast. Familiarity should help you find your own voice, perspective or "take" on the role. You are welcome to rent a script ahead of time to help you prepare, just stop by during business hours.

Be Proactive About Your Schedule and Availability

Bring your calendar for the next couple of months. The director will want to know about pre-existing commitments now... not after you are cast.

Be Gracious

Not everyone can be the lead. The director has reasons for the decisions made and we ask that you respect that. You may be offered a role that you weren't planning for or be asked to help the show in other areas.

Be On Time

Please respect the production team and your fellow auditionees by showing up to audition on time. If you might have a conflict that prevents you from coming on time, reach out to the director ahead of time.

Have Fun

Because that's what theatre is all about!
